This is not typical here in Canada, but I would still argue you receive much better care with a midwife. Our appointments are about 30min, and often a lot of waiting (midwives are covered by universal health care here, and are extremely busy and not well-paid) What you DO get with a midwife is regular on-call support, respectful and attentive care, and MUCH better postpartum follow-ups. If you're low risk, I don't know why'd you'd choose anyone else except a midwife!
