Friday Movie: Breastfeeding in Public

Cafe Manager Berates Breastfeeding Mom
on ABC News, via Bellies and Babies

What an interesting social experiment! What runs through your mind when you see a woman nursing in public? I can't say that I've seen very many, actually.
How do you think you would react if you saw a nursing mom being harassed by a store manager? Would you say nothing or stick up for her? Be honest now...

Want to know what happens next? You can watch What Would You Do on ABC News tonight, May 14, at 9 pm.

  1. I saw the commercial for this the other day and already have my DVR set for it.

The CLC at a breastfeeding class I took handed out a paper to everyone with our state's statute on breastfeeding in public, which clearly states that it is our right and we cannot be discriminated against because of it or accused of indecent exposure.

I plan to carry this piece of paper in my diaper bag all the time when my baby is born!

  2. Luckily, we have great laws in NC. It's not illegal anywhere, but some states are definitely friendlier to bf. In NC, you could expose everything to bf if that is what you need to do. And you cannot be asked to move, only others around you could be asked to move.

Now, I tried to be as discreet as possible when I bf and I still got looks. I got used to it and glared back. LOL

Thanks for visiting on my SITS day on Monday!

  3. I've seen quite a few women breast-feeding in public - and I've never seen anyone be harassed for it. If I did see a manager try to tell someone to stop, I think I would politely say that as a member of the public I don't have any problem with it...

  4. It's good to know your state's rules and regulations on this! Whether you are discreet or not, you have rights. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
